The Social Work Department is comprised of Social Workers/Attendance Counsellors and Mental Health Support Workers. Social Workers help reduce risk factors for students and families and help students thrive in school and in the community, with a focus on early intervention, improving school attendance, family support, bridging to community, wrap around services and responding to students in crisis.

School Social Workers/Attendance Counsellors are regulated Mental Health Professionals with a Master of Social Work degree and are registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. They adhere to the Social Work Code of Ethics and are professionally accountable to the Chief of Social Work. The Social Work Department is under the administrative direction of the Superintendents of Program/Special Education & Support Services and the clinical consultation/supervision of the Chief Social Worker.

Mental Health Support Workers focus on evidence-informed mental health assessment and direct intervention with students to help stabilize mental health symptoms, respond to crises and bridge to community services.
