The Core French Program begins in Grade 4 and continues up to Grade 12.  Students must accumulate a minimum of 600 hours of French instruction by the end of Grade 8. All students must complete one Grade 9 FSL credit (110 hours) to attain their Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD).  French instruction is provided to support students with oral communication skills (listening and speaking), reading and writing.  The program also develops students' appreciation of Francophone culture in Canada and around the world.

Students who continue their French studies into grade 12 have the opportunity to challenge the Diplôme d'Études en Langue Française (DELF), a globally recognized certificate of French proficiency in more than 165 countries. More information: DELF Examinations in 91̽»¨
