91̽»¨ students, staff, families, trustees and alumni to celebrate Catholic Education Week – May 4-9

Catholic schools across Ontario will celebrate Catholic Education Week from May 4 to May 9, with this year's theme: Catholic Education: Pilgrims of Hope.

"Catholic Education Week offers a special opportunity to highlight the incredible achievements happening in our Catholic schools, to celebrate our students and staff, and to recognize the significant role that faith plays in education," said Marianne Mazzorato, Director of Education.

The 91̽»¨ School Board (91̽»¨) will engage the community with a social media campaign to mark this year's Catholic Education Week. Students, staff, parents, trustees, and alumni are encouraged to share their personal reflections on Catholic education and showcase how they are celebrating the week through photos, videos, quotes, and artwork, using the hashtag #91̽»¨_CEW.

"We invite everyone in our community—students, staff, parents, guardians, families, trustees, and alumni—to participate in this social media campaign," Director Mazzorato added. "We look forward to seeing how our schools and communities are coming together to celebrate this special week."

To see the celebration unfold across 91̽»¨ schools, follow us on X, Facebook and Instagram.

Additionally, the Catholic Education Week Provincial Mass will take place on May 7. The Mass will be celebrated by the Most Rev. Douglas Crosby, Bishop of Hamilton. All members of the 91̽»¨ community—students, families, staff, trustees, and the broader Catholic community—are invited to participate virtually. The Mass will be livestreamed from the Cathedral Basilica of Christ the King, beginning at 11:00 a.m. Livestream Link

On the same day, Ontario Catholic Student Youth Day, hosted by the Ontario Catholic School Trustees Association, will provide students across the province with an opportunity to engage in virtual workshops and listen to keynote speakers. The event will run from 9:15 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
